I HATE moving!

We are moving. Again. I feel like I've moved 20 times in the last 6 years.

Come to think of it, I have moved half that many times. Since graduating high school, I've moved 10 different times and Hubs and I are gearing up to move again.

Our apartment is currently strewn with boxes, clothing, and paper plates. There are probably 20ish boxes left to pack and I'm sure we'll be short.

That being said--what do you think I'm doing? Watching Dawson's Creek--why? because I can, blogging--obvs, and grading papers--bleck.

I never watched Dawson's Creek growing up because we had four channels...4, 6, 11, & 13. News, news, news, & PBS.

WE LOVED IT! *not*

So, since I'm all "grown up", it's just logical to watch shows from 20 years ago. Right? Right.

Blogging? Here? Pfft. Chyeah. It's been a while and I want to get back into it. So here we are. Thanks for joining me.

Papers? I love teaching. I adore my students. I hate grading. All-in-all, it's just something that has to get done and I'll live with it.

What do you watch or read that takes you back to your "youth"? Or not so "youth"?
Please comment below!

Now that we've successfully completed our journey down the rabbit trail, let's get back to the topic on hand. Moving. Isn't it just a part of growing up? Why is growing up so tough and so much work? I love being married and I love having our own home. Even so, I still think it's tough to make those changes. What types of changes are you going through? Let's go through this together?

Also, please pray that our housing situation all get approved?

Happy Wednesday!

It feels like a Monday...

It's a Tuesday. We're in the middle of third quarter. Aka. "The third quarter slump." Kids don't want to be at school. Many teachers don't want to be at school.

But there are a few things that keep me coming back day after day.

1. The kids--> the conversations we have in class. They're real with me. They're comfortable enough to ask me questions and have some pretty tough conversations. Today's was about college and advantages to college and why to save money for tuition instead of only taking out loans (like me).

2. The kids' parents--> We just got done with parent teacher conferences last week. And I was constantly reminded of how truly grateful I am to have some of these students in my classes. I told their parents too. They deserve a gold star for raising some dang good kids.

3. The kids--> I sold admission tickets to the basketball game tonight. The boys kept asking if I was going to come to the game on Thursday. They notice if I'm there or not. They care.

That's what it comes down to.

They care about me.

And I care about them.

The End.

Good night!

Yipes! It's been a while...

I was just looking at my last post and I realize it's been a while...a little too while. School is back in full swing with the kiddos doing lots of hard work and helping others around them.

Last week we had a diaper drive for our secretary. She had twins about a month ago, plus she has a 3 year old! She'll be busy! So one of our school organizations decided to sponsor a diaper drive. Basically, the students (and teachers) bring in diapers to donate to the sweet little bebes and their momma. As we bring in diapers (or money...20 cents per diaper) there are prizes awarded. The first prize to win is a school wide movie before our long weekend. The next few tiers include different staff members who will be 1. dying their hair or 2. shaving their heads. If we made it to 4,500 diapers the superintendent said he'd shave his head.

Well, we made 4,500 by Thursday...so one of my juniors came to me. He said, "Mrs. Entzel, if we make it to 5,500 diapers by tomorrow, would you be willing to color your hair? Please?" And with a smile, it was impossible to say no.

So tomorrow, 1st hour, I will be getting my hair colored (a temp color!) pink or purple! Yipes! Pictures will follow. Tomorrow is also 10 on 10...so get ready!

Good night, homies.

Our LIttle Home: Weekend Edition

I'm sitting in our little apartment; it's -13 degrees Fahrenheit, but it really feels like -39 degrees outside. It's been a chilly weekend outside, but it's been so nice and cozy inside.

(Friday morning before heading into school)

It was nice to be home from school on Friday and not have to go anywhere for most of the weekend. It was an exhausting week...so what is a teaching couple to do? Be asleep by 6:45pm? Sure!

Saturday was lovely. :) I woke up feeling extremely refreshed. At 5am. Since my husband wouldn't let me go grocery shopping at Wal-Mart. So I went at 7:30 instead.
Our dear friends Katie and Jon came over for supper on Saturday and yours truly made her first turkey! It was lovely to see this sweet couple. It was after their wedding reception that husband and I got engaged!

Today, we had a snow day! (of sorts) We woke up for church and most of our corner of the world was under a blizzard warning. So what do two adults do on a snow day? Make a fort of course!

After one venture into the cold for groceries today, roads closed, homemade buns (which finally worked!), Oops! All Berries, tv with my husband, grading, coloring mah hair, and many many blankets makes for a lovely weekend.

I realize this was super boring. My bad. here are a few more photos to hopefully revive you.

(buns!)

(Oops! All berries)

I've got the day off tomorrow. Hopefully it'll all clear up by Tuesday! Sleep well!

Change

Change \ˈchānj\
the act or result of something becoming different

I don't know about you, but my life is going to be changing this year.
I'm not sure how.
I'm not sure when.
I just know it's going to come.

I'm not a lover of change. I'm also not a hater of change. It can be good and it can be bad. What I do know, is that it's inevitable and I have to endure it.

Sometimes enduring change can be overwhelming and stressful. My challenge right now is to not let the changes in my life cause me anxiety.  Will you accept that challenge with me?

Also, I know that God will help me through any change that may come. I'll be praying about what will come. Will you too?

I know this post is extremely vague, but since I don't even know what form these changes will take--it's hard to be transparent about them.

Be sure to check back! I'll be updating you on the changes going on in my life.

Until then, Happy HUMP DAY!

Crash Course: Literature (I did not coin this term)

This guy is great!

1. I've now shown this video to 4 of my English classes today.
2. My girls love his books. (I've only read The Fault in our Stars and I LOVED it too!)
3. They've noticed that he talks reallyreallyfast.
4. He does a whole series on Literature, Geography, Math, History, etc.
5. He's hilarious!

On that note...I'm not hilarious, so I'm outta here.

Happy Tuesday!
