He's ONE!

Wasn't it just yesterday that I looked like this...

40 weeks

 41 weeks + 1 day (induction day)

And then you were here! Granted, it was a little more work than that. And if you've not read Lew's birth story, you can find part 1 here and part 2 here.

But he's here and has been for an entire year. How is that possible?? He's our favorite little boy and we are so thankful to have him in our family.

Lewis still loves to eat...anything and everything. Including dog food. He loves his Papa (my dad) the most. He is a champion sleeper...taking two 2 hour naps per day AND sleeping 10-12 hours per night.

He only has two teeth and pictures don't do it justice, but he really does have hair. It's just super blond.

He's still a peanut, but there's a lot of personality, adventure, and spunk in that little boy. We love you so much and are SO excited for year two.

9 Months: Lewis

On Tuesday, May 2, Lewis was 9 months old! Wow! I'm sorry that you really only get updates once a month...but I promise, I'll try to get better.

He weighed in at a whopping 15lbs 10oz (first percentile) and measured 71cm (approx 28"--33rd percentile).

He loves crawling (or scooting) around and will sometimes bear crawl...Mom is worried that he's going to decide to walk out of the blue one day.

Other loves: food, any and everything...(bananas, kiwi, prunes, apples, squash, peas, spaghetti, green and red peppers, oranges, grilled chicken, fruit popsicles, ice cream, yogurt, Cherrios, veggie straws, oatmeal [baked and the regular], coconut, peanut butter, eggs [most days], sausage, hamburger, avocado...the list could go on), baths, walks in the stroller, drinking water from his Camelbak, letting the puppy chew on his fingers and toes, and I could keep going.

Things he hates: waking up from naps, taking baths when he's tired, being able to hear Mom but not seeing or being held by her, grass...it's the funniest thing ever, the puppy when he is tired, and I'm sure there are a few more, but he's really a pretty easy going baby.

As always, I'll end on a thankful note. We are so thankful for Lewis and the addition he's been to our family. I love watching him grow and even moreso, I love being his Mama.

And finally, what sorts of things should Lewis be asking for for his birthday? It's right around the corner. OMG(osh).

Happy 9 Months, bud!

And Happy Thursday, all!

7 & 8 Months: Lewis

I just realized that I forgot to post about Lewis turning 7 months old and now he's already 8 months old! So this post will be a double whammy.

Seven months came and went with a flash and he's progressed so much. I have no idea how much he weighed or how long he was, but he was solidly in 3-6 & 6 month clothing. He loved his food and his parents. And then one day (yesterday), he turned 8 months. I'm also realizing that his face is thinning out a bit...

As of this morning he clocked in at 15 lbs 3 oz. He's still a peanut and that's okay. Lewis loves food, his parents, snuggles, playing, his friends at daycare, and the Parks & Rec theme song. He's not happy when his tray is empty. His first tooth popped through last week and he's been so much happier since.

Apparently it's comfortable to have your foot on your tray while eating? Even so, he's our favorite little guy and it's so fun to watch him grow up. Here's to month 9!

We love you, Lew!

6 Months: Lewis

Our little ham bone turned 6 months old yesterday! He's sitting up on his own, often smiley, and he loves to make others smile.

At his appointment this afternoon, Lewis weighed  14 lbs 6 oz (4th percentile) and measured 25.5 in (9th percentile) long! So he's still a peanut. He's growing up and as much as we miss the snuggly little newborn stage, it's been so fun to watch him grow and learn.

Lewis loves: peas, squash, sweet potatoes, celery, mushrooms, & teething biscuits.
He does not like: sleeping alone (still), waiting to be picked up...when he really wants to be held, & being awake in the evenings.

Here are some outtakes from his photo shoot yesterday. He had a super cute outfit on, but he spit up on Dad only 20 min prior to these pics. Not impressed, bud.

He went swimming for the first time and while he wasn't sure what to think right away, once he figured out how to splash--he had so much fun! He would've played for quite a while if his pesky chin hadn't started quivering.

Doesn't he look like a little boy and not a baby??

Daycare has been better lately. He loves his daycare lady and he's been working on waving good-bye to people! He's rocking his flannel and continuing to look like a bald old man.

Lew and Mom went grocery shopping one Saturday morning while dad was recovering from (another) cold. So naturally, we had to stop at Tim Horton's. He'll learn early on that Saturdays are for TimBits and coffee.

Even though he doesn't like to sleep in his crib at night, he does nap very well in it during the day.

He even naps well on the bathroom floor! :)

It's been such a fun month with little Lewis. We love watching him explore and learn things every day. We even love noticing that his hair is growing...finally!

Lew, your dad and I love you so much. You're the perfect addition to our family...even if you don't sleep in your own bed yet.

Five Months: Lewis

This is a week late, but with baby Charlotte's surgery being today, I didn't want another post on here before her get better day. Updates will be posted to the original post about Charlotte. So keep checking there.

Lewis turned 5 months last Monday. We were still on Christmas break and loving it.

He didn't have an appointment this month, so I'm not sure what his stats are. But he has been growing like crazy. He's still a peanut, but he's tall.

Lewis loves to visit and he loves people. (I'm not entirely sure where he got that from...) And he's interested in learning about everything going on around him.

In the last month, Lewis has had two snow days (the third being after his 5 mo marker), celebrated a whole week of Christmas, went to his first wedding, celebrated his first New Years, learned to nap by himself (YES!), and has gotten sick again. Stinking colds.

Three new things he's started this month are: making a really loud "mmmmmmmm" sound whenever he's unhappy...hungry, tired of being with a certain toy, tired of tummy time, etc....resting his arm over whatever he's leaning against, and folding his hands when he's pleased with himself.

We love you, Lewis. And we are so glad you're here!

Four Months: Lewis

I know, I know. I've said this every month...but HOW??

Seriously. I can't get over his long legs, his generous smile, and just all of him. Ugh.
13lbs 5.6 oz
24.5 in long
16 in head

He's rocking the lower percentiles, but he's growing and happy. That's what's important.

We went to go visit Gigi and she loved it. It was the first time she got to hold Lewis. What a champ.

Lewis is a chatterbox and he's recently learned how to blow spit bubbles...impressive.

He likes: sleeping, visiting, playing in his exersaucer, tummy time (usually), looking at people and faces, lights, dogs, scratching, laughing, smiling, chewing on things, watching all of the things

He does not like: laying on his back to play (at least not for long), being warm (he sweats easily), getting out of the warm bath and being cold

His personality is starting to shine through and we're so thankful for this peanut.

Three Months: Lewis

Here we are! 3 months with our little man.

He loves trying to sit up!

His first corn maze with his biggest cousins!

Chatting with cousin Jesse.

All smiles after his first plane ride.

A tiny little boy in a King size bed.

His new winter hat.

He loves post-bath playtime.

We haven't been to an appointment lately, so I'm not sure how long he is or how much he weighs...but I'm sure he's an easy 11 lbs and a good 24 inches long. He's a growing machine and his clothes are starting to get to be too short! (definitely not too small around the middle...he's still pretty slender)

Happy three months, baby bear!
