So much crazy... {By the Numbers}

Most of you know by now that we are having a baby in July. And those of you who missed that memo...now you know. It's hard for me to believe that it's coming so fast! So, here's a little run-down of what our lives look like in the next 12 1/2 weeks.

Twelve and a half weeks to go!

one hundred and fifty cupcakes to bake and frost 

twenty-one days of school

twenty frozen meals to prep

eight weekends at home

seven doctor's appointments

five birthing classes to attend

five thousand loads of laundry 

five birthdays

four graduation parties

three weekends of hosting guests

three babies to be born (not including ours)

two baby showers

two anniversaries

one graduation ceremony

one marathon to attend

one 5K to participate in 

one set of stairs to refinish

one bathroom to tile

one baby's room to finish

and

ONE family vacation to attend

I'm not entirely sure how everything will get done...but where there's a will there's a way, right?? I'm not so sure. She's Coming Back! {By the Numbers}

It's true! If you read Aubrey's blog, you'll know that I'm telling the truth. She's moving back! She's not entirely sure where she's moving back to...but she'll at least be in the states when Baby Entzel is born. Which is much better than first meeting him/her at Christmas!

Here's a little history of our relationship by the numbers (years).

We met in the fall of 2009 when a mutual friend duct taped us together and we've been inseparable ever since.

In the spring of 2010, we took an epic spring break road trip. We took in two basketball tournaments (for two different states), put approx. 1,200 miles on my car driving all over ND/MN, and made so many memories in that short week.

In the fall of 2010, we walked to and from classes together and saw each other every day. She also celebrated my birthday with me (and my mom)! We went to see Wicked at the Orpheum.

During the spring of 2011, Aubrey moved into the building right next door to me. She quickly became friends with my roommates and spent most of March Madness at our apartment with Kayla. And unfortunately, I am unable to find the footage of her playing "My Heart Will Go On" on her recorder. Stay tuned *get it?*,  I may be able to find it yet.

Aubrey moved home during the summer of 2011 to start her student teaching that fall. We still kept in contact even though we were 333 miles apart.

We spent a ton of time texting and emailing back and forth trying to figure out if this one boy liked me and if he did, when he'd ask me out. I can't even venture to guess how many texts were sent between November and February 2012.

Once we found out that he really did like me, I think the texting only increased.

There were a few times when I did take the Amtrak to see her. It was probably the springs of 2012 and 2013? (Aubrey, correct me if I'm wrong)

Then in the summer of 2012, she came to visit in Grand Forks on her way to camp.

During the summer of 2013, I was honored to have her stand up by me when I married my best friend.


Since then, our friendship has still been long distance with me being in ND and her teaching in Thailand for 2014-2016 but we've continued to see each other about once a year. We will FaceTime off and on. But we've remained friends for so long, that I know I can always count on her.

I'm so looking forward to having Aubrey move back to ND this summer and it can't come fast enough.

What to do: By the Numbers

Daylight Savings officially ended this weekend. I'm sure most of you already know that. If you don't know that, then I'm assuming you've been early for the last day and a half. Hah!

Since we "fell back" this weekend, I'm trying to scheme all of the things that need to get done. Winter is just around the corner *I know, don't shoot the messenger* and the Entzels have a lot of things to do. Some tasks are fun and others, not so much.

Between now and the end of the month there are...

...at least fifteen cabinets to prime and paint.

...at least eight school meetings.

...five exercise classes for me to attend.

...four Bible Study meetings to attend.

...four gifts to hand make.

...three meals hosted by us.

...three batches of cupcakes to bake. 

...two days of deer hunting to celebrate.

...two dressers to sand, prime, and paint.

...one friends-giving to partake in.

...one GFEA social.

...one wedding.

...one teacher date.

...one tattoo to get.

...one front door to install.

...and one house to ready for Christmas.

I know it's a little early to be thinking about Christmas, but by the time the end of the month rolls around, we're going to be ready to start decorating for Christmas.

What do you have to get done by the end of the month?

Let it snow, Let it snow...Wait! It's May 18! {By the Numbers}

Yeah, you read that right. It's snowing.

On May 18.

But that's okay. Because with the forecast for the rest of the week, we're looking at mostly sunny with highs in the 70s!

Wahoo!

So I figured that today was as good as any, to do a By the Numbers. It's been a while since I've hosted one...so, why not?

As teachers, we look forward to summer. Not necessarily because we get a break (because I'm hoping to teach summer school this year & Kyle is hoping to help a beekeeper--another story for another day), but because we have a new routine. Sure--some of us do get a legit vacation, but most of us have additional jobs, we work on our curriculum, or we even take grad classes. And some of us have family obligations (por ejemplo--weddings coming out of our ears!!) that can't be attended to during the school year.

And if you've survived that crazy train, here's the rest of my school year By the Numbers.

626 miles

7 meetings

5 dinner dates

4 graduation gifts to buy

3 graduation ceremonies

2 birthday presents to make/send

And only
17 days to do it all in

Fall Break.

Dun dun dun.

Mere hours separate us from Fall Break. Here we go, By the Numbers.

1 more sleep.
2 classes I will have.
3 times I'll eat.
4 times I'll recheck my suitcase.
5 times I'll check my school mail.
6 students to see.
8 times I'll go to the bathroom
10 times I'll check my email.
12 times I'll push "Snooze".
15 times I wish I were sleeping.
18 assignments to grade.
19 hours until we are (hopefully) on the road.

I can't wait.

Fathers' Day 2014--By the Numbers

We seriously love our families. Our dads and our moms. And our siblings. 

Husband and his sibs might pick on their youngest sister incessantly, but they really do love her. 

*I think*

Anyway...

Our parents have been wanting to get together for the last year (since our wedding), but schedules have never really allowed. So we (hubs and I) thought it would be fun to have everyone over for Fathers' Day. So, we did. 

Not only did we have family over for lunch, but my parents were here for breakfast too! We had a full day of family, food, and fun. *Yes, I did need to add alliteration here. Don't judge.*

We're going to do a "By the Numbers" post to show what all went down.

Fathers' Day 2014

2 meals

12 caramel rolls

1 pineapple

8 people

8 pork chops

1 easy marinade

1 new grill

7 potatoes

4 lbs of potato salad

1 spinach salad

2 dads

2 siblings

3 couples

2 gift certificates

1 grill

4 veggies

1 fruit trifle

countless laughs

It was a great day with parents and siblings alike. Dads, if you're reading this. Please know how much we love you. We wouldn't be the individuals nor the couple that we are. You've shown us how to behave as functional people, as mature Christians, as a spouse in a loving relationship, and as a parent. We admire you and love you more than words can say.

To round out the day, my husband let me take a nap on the couch and he even drove me to Five Guys Burgers and Fries for supper...at 9:45 at night.

It's Only Thursday and Already...

It's only Thursday. There's one more week of school left for the year. It feels like it should be the last Thursday of school though.

Already this week I've...

...had 4 headaches.
...been stressed 1400 times. (no lie)
...drank at least 2 liters of coffee.
...submitted official grades once.
...read 2 pages in my "fun" book.
...seen my classes 3 times each.
...talked to my plants 5 times.
...been on 1 date with my husband.

Overall, it's been a good week and it's not over yet! I still have graduation to attend tomorrow as well as multiple grad parties this weekend.
